About the Recipe

Juicy grilled pork chops paired with buttery sautéed mushrooms. This hearty lunch is quick to prepare and deeply satisfying, highlighting classic meat-centric flavors.

Ingredients

Grilled Pork Chops:

  • 1 thick-cut pork chop (8-10 oz), bone-in or boneless

  • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Butter-Sautéed Mushrooms:

  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms (cremini, white button, or shiitake)

  • 1 tablespoon butter (grass-fed preferred)

  • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Preparation

Grilled Pork Chops:

  1. Season Chop: Season pork chop generously on both sides with sea salt and pepper.

  2. Grill Pork Chop: Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill pork chop about 6-7 minutes per side, until cooked through (145°F internal temp) and nicely browned.

Cooking Tip: Rest pork chop for 3-5 minutes after grilling to retain juices.

Butter-Sautéed Mushrooms:

  1. Cook Mushrooms: Melt butter gently in a skillet over medium heat. Add mushrooms and sauté for 4-5 minutes until golden brown and tender, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper.

Cooking Tip: Cook mushrooms in a single layer to achieve nice browning instead of steaming.

Plate & Serve: Serve grilled pork chop alongside sautéed mushrooms immediately.

Tasty Mushroom Options:

  • Cremini: Mild, slightly nutty and earthy flavor.

  • Shiitake: Rich, savory umami taste and meaty texture.

  • Oyster: Delicate, subtly sweet, and velvety.

  • Portobello: Hearty, bold, and steak-like.

  • Maitake (Hen of the Woods): Earthy, aromatic, and robust flavor.

Meat Lover’s Flavor Boost Options:

  • Garlic Butter: Add minced garlic to butter while sautéing mushrooms for extra depth of flavor.

  • Fresh Thyme: Sprinkle fresh thyme leaves into mushrooms for aromatic brightness.

  • Creamy Mushroom Sauce (optional dairy): Stir a tablespoon of heavy cream into mushrooms after cooking for added richness.

  • Bacon Crumbles: Add cooked bacon crumbles atop mushrooms or pork chop for extra savory crunch.
