About the Recipe

A juicy, grilled burger patty topped with rich, melted Gruyere cheese and crowned with a perfectly fried egg. Simple yet decadent, this meat-centric lunch delivers satisfying flavors in every bite.

Ingredients

  • 6-8 oz ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)

  • 1-2 slices Gruyere cheese (optional dairy)

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tablespoon butter or beef tallow (for cooking)

  • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Preparation

Grilled Burger Patty:

  1. Form Patty: Gently form ground beef into a burger patty, seasoning generously with salt and pepper on both sides.

  2. Grill Patty: Preheat grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook burger patty for 4-5 minutes per side, until nicely browned and cooked to desired doneness.

  3. Add Cheese: During final minute of cooking, place Gruyere slices on top of burger, allowing them to melt.

Fried Egg:

  1. Cook Egg: In a separate skillet, melt butter or beef tallow over medium heat. Crack egg gently into pan and cook until whites are set and yolk reaches desired doneness (about 2-3 minutes).

Cooking Tip: Keep yolk slightly runny for a flavorful sauce-like finish.

Plate & Serve: Place burger patty onto a plate and carefully top with fried egg. Serve immediately.

Meat Lover’s Keto-Carnivore Flavor Boost Options:

  • Bacon Strips: Add crispy bacon slices under the egg for extra savory crunch.

  • Hot Sauce (clean, sugar-free): Drizzle lightly on top for spicy warmth.

  • Caramelized Onions (minimal): Top burger with lightly caramelized onions for natural sweetness.

  • Steak Butter: Place a small pat of garlic-herb butter on the hot burger patty for luxurious flavor.
